Celeb Look: Come Hither

Victoria Beckham looked fierce at Range Rover's 40th Anniversary party in London. She swept her dark hair into a messy, textured updo but kept face-framing tendrils out. This put the spotlight on her glowing skin, perfectly blushed cheeks, and intense eyeliner. A light peach glossy lip complemented the peachy tone of her skin and was subtle enough not to compete with her eye makup. In a word, genius! The plus side is that you don't need a 100% steady hand to replicate this look. Don't sweat recreating this with my advice.

Get Victoria's look:
1. Start with your eyes. Apply an eyeshadow base: use primer if you have it, but a thin layer of concealer can work if you don't have any.
2. You'll need to break out a kohl black liner. Line your waterline, but be careful not to poke your eye. It's okay if your line isn't perfectly straight or varies in thickness.
3. Take an angled eyeliner brush and dip it in a charcoal shadow. Use this brush to go over the lines you just made, blending and smudging it outward.
4. Line your upper lashline, thickening as you go toward the outer corners of your eyes.
5. Do the same thing in step #3. Blend, blend, smudge, smudge. Use the brush to connect the lower lashline liner to that on the upper.
6. Dab a regular eyeshadow brush in a neutral taupe and blot your entire eyelid.
7. Apply copious amounts of mascara, but stop before they clump. After the mascara has dried, curl your lashes.
8. Clean up any shadow fallout before doing your base. Apply a teeny bit of a liquid highlighter to your foundation for a Beckham-worthy glow.
9. Apply a matte peach blush to the apples of your cheeks. Then swipe bronzer where the sun will hit you naturally: an arc under the cheekbones, a light dusting on the forehead and bridge of your nose.
10. Dab a regular eyeshadow brush in a vanilla eyeshadow. Use it on the inner corners, underneath the browbone, and on the top of your cheekbones.
11. Finish up the look with a matte peach lipstick. Top with a bit of a clear gloss for extra shine and fullness.

Products to Try:
1. Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Soft Black, $5 at Target
2. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Oil Slick, $19 at Sephora
3. Revlon Matte Powder Blush in Perfectly Peach, $10 at CVS

Chloe's Favorites, Part 1

All of these finds you can get at your local drugstore. The only exception is my daytime gloss, which you can find at Bath & Body Works. I don't know about you, but my beauty addiction is not going to bankrupt me.

Eyeliner
Daytime: Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Sapphire
Nighttime: Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Liner in Black
Chloe's Tips: The dark cobalt liner is great if you're on a rush in the morning and didn't get a wink of sleep since the blue makes the white of your eyes whiter (and presto! you look less tired). My go-to nighttime look is winged liquid liner. I *rarely* line my lower lashline with dark shades since it makes my eyes look smaller, so keep these on your upper lashline only for best results.

Eyeshadow
Daytime: Maybelline Expert Wear Shadow Quad in Mocha Motion
Nighttime: Maybelline Expert Wear Single Shadow in Amethyst
Chloe's Tips: With a quad, you can really vary your looks from day to day. If you have time in the morning you can contour. For going out, I use a shadow brush to dust my lids and then build color in the crease. The purple makes my hazel eyes greener, which is a bonus!

Mascara
Daytime: L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black
Nighttime: New York Color Waterproof Mascara in Jet Black
Chloe's Tips: I curl my lashes for 10 seconds before feathering on my daytime mascara. I rotate the brush so I coat every lash. I'll layer waterproof mascara over it and do the same thing until my lashes are thick, black, and hold the curl.

Lipstick
Daytime: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Heavenly
Nighttime: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Ballistic
Chloe's Tips: Layer the two lipsticks together for a sultry cool-toned red lipstick that's a touch off of wine. For an extra long lasting pout, line and fill in your lips with Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lipliner in Eastend Snob (a creamy, neutral pink).

Lipgloss
Daytime: Liplicious Lipgloss in Grapefruit
Nighttime: Cover Girl Amazemint Lipgloss in Unwined
Chloe's Tips: A sparkly neutral pink looks fresh and not overdone for day, and the shine makes my lips look plumper. I like to go sultry at night, so a minty wine color that leaves my lips sleek and colorful is my trusty look. Either way, I like my lips to smell nice.

June is National Rose Month

I don't know if you knew this, but the rose is the national floral emblem of the United States. For some reason, that romantic flower gets its own month too. Roses are widely held to be symbols of passion and love, but the meaning depends on the hue of the flower in question. In one Arabic legend of the rose, it was said that roses were originally white. A nightengale met one of the white roses and fell in love, and he was inspired to sing (whereas before his type of bird only croaked and chirped). Eventually his love was such that he pressed his little feathery body into the flower, but the thorns pierced his heart and colored the rose forever red. I think that story is quite poignant. On a different note, I've found some fun products that will help you enjoy roses to their fullest!

Eyeshadow Porn

Excuse the odd title, but I just had to share this with you! I've been browsing for some daring, out-of-the-box eye makeup looks to try. None of these are for wallflowers. If you're stuck in a rut, check out these pictures for some inspiration.

While this may only be acceptable at a rave, you really have to admire the artistic use of color. I especially love the turquoise shadow lining the lower lashline.

Lordy, that's blue! I love how it fades from neon aqua to a deep and mysterious indigo. I spy blue mascara on the lower lashes!

The shimmery fuschia transitions to a muted teal, which is ultra-fresh. Only the waterline is lined with black eyeliner, then complimented with some bright navy shadow. I think this look is insanely cool, but not for the faint of heart.

The canary yellow is reminiscent of Beyonce's look in the music video for "Telephone"! I like how the shadow is extended to meet the shape of the liner, but I think black liquid liner would look sharper than the kohl that was used in this photo.

Red eyeshadow is officially on my wishlist. I like the nontraditional hot pink all-the-way-around-the-eye liner, and the shimmery orange that fades into the red. Would you rock this during the daytime? I would, provided what I was wearing didn't clash.

Have you ever heard of an olive smoky eye? Me neither, but damn it looks good! I bet gals with hazel or gold eyes would look especially hot with this.

I've seen leopard print nails, but have never seen the pattern replicated with kohl liner! If you take away the spots, this look is high-glam and wearable.

Surprisingly, periwinkle shadows are super wearable. While I never wear this much, blending some shimmery pastel blues and purples gets a super sweet, girly look.

The ice blue liner really sets off the orange pigments in the red shadow. Gorgeous!

You can't go wrong with silver-to-purple gradient shadows.

All images are from http://makeupeyeshadows.com/. If anyone has a particular favorite, I'd be happy to post a tutorial and find some products that can achieve it.

Celeb Look: Matte Fuschia Lips

Rihanna's known for her edgy 80's inspired style, and when you have such gorgeous features why the hell not play them up? If you fancy your lips as your best facial feature, this look is definitely for you. This is not one for shy wallflowers. If you try this, I'm sure you'll stand out at the club.

One of the reasons why Rihanna can pull this off is because her face is flawless. That translates to a perfect application of matte foundation, a light dusting of bronzer, concealer under the eyes, and finely shaped brows. Her shadow is neutral taupe, which offsets the winged liner perfectly. Instead of traditional black, she uses navy liner on both her upper and lower lashlines. The focal point is her voluptuous fuschia mouth that's done in a matte finish.

Get Rihanna's look:
1. Apply a matte foundation and dust transculent powder over your T-zone.
2. Lightly dust a matte bronzer underneath your cheekbones for a sculpted look.
3. Apply a taupe eyeshadow to your lids. Look for a matte finish.
4. Apply a vanilla shadow on your browbone and inner coners.
5. Smudge a mink brown shadow into your creases, using a brush to blend.
6. Line your eyes with a kohl pencil in a cobalt blue. As you go out, your line should get thicker. Wing out the liner slightly at an angle. Now line underneath your bottom lashline, and make sure no skin shows through. Connect it to the wing you created.
7. Curl lashes and apply two coats of a volumizing black mascara.
8. Apply concealer underneath your eyes and blend outward and upward.
9. Line your lips with a fuschia lip pencil and fill in your lips with it as well. This will help the lipstick last longer.
10. For a precise application, use a lip brush to apply a matte fuschia lipstick. Blot once, then reapply.
11. Put a tiny bit of vanilla eyeshadow in your cupid's bow to make your lips pop.
12. Rihanna chose to part her hair on the side and flat iron it, letting her bangs fall into her eyes.

Products to Try:
1. Revlon Luxurious Color Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Midnight Blue, $8 at Walmart
2. NARS Lipstick in Funny Face, $24 at Sephora
3. Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Pure, $6 at Ulta
4. Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe, $3 at Drugstore.com
5. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Coffee Cake, $6 at Walmart

Pantone Color of the Year

Drum roll please...2010's hottest color is TURQUOISE. You probably already knew that, though. I'm bringing it up because it's the most fitting hue for summer. It makes me think of lemonade, late night swims in the neighborhood pool, and tropical escapes.

There are all sorts of ways to incorporate this color into your life. Turquoise is supposedly a symbol of youth and communication. Additionally, it creates a soothing effect. Why not find a gorgeous new dress or pair of heels in this color? Or maybe revamp the walls of your bathroom? Keep reading for some inspiration and product ideas.

Doesn't Chanel Iman look stunning with dramatic ocean-inspired makeup at the Gucci spring show? Aqua and turquoise eye shadows and dramatic lashes really make her brown eyes pop. All brown-eyed beauties should consider investing in a shadow or liner of this color. It's a bit unexpected yet incredibly summery. It looks equally great paired with a nude lip for the day or a vixen wine lip for night. This color has been cropping up on nails for the past year as well, so try the bold hue for your next manicure or pedicure! I personally own #3 and #5, and I love them both.

Backstage Beauty: The Lady's a Tramp

I've always appreciated the eccentricity of Betsey Johnson's style. She didn't disappoint with her Spring 2010 collection, which was starred vampy makeup, larger-than-life hair, lots of tulle, neon animal print, and her signature party dresses. Below you'll find the actual products used to create the "good girl gone bad" look of the runway.

MAKEUP
Stila was in charge of the makeup, which is supposed to be both messy and vampy. It's was smudgy like it was slept in. When you're doing this at home, remember that imperfection is perfection! Skin was merely evened out with a tinted moisturizer to balance out the edgy lips and eyes. Blend gray and black shadows, then top with silver glitter on the lids and dab your makeup brush in red glitter to add to the outer corners. Line the upper and lower lashlines with a black eyeliner, then take an eyeliner brush to add some gray shadow along the line (smudge, smudge, smudge!). Make a V-shape of red glitter on the outer eye. Add several coats of black mascara. For the lips, make sure you line them with a complimentary liner for a smooth finish. Use a dark almost-black red, then dab a little red glitter into the center of your lips for extra oomph.
Products Used: Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Black, Stila All Over Liquid Shimmer, Stila Major Major Mascara in Black

NAILS
The base coat used was butter LONDON Branwen Feather (blackish purple). The next coat was either butter LONDON Rosie Lee (pinkish glitter) or butter LONDON Henly Regatta (bluish-green glitter). It was very grunge chic.

HAIR
The hair was big and teased and offset with giant tulle hairpieces. Create the "mad texture" by using Redken Full Frame 07 Protective Volumizing Mousse and Redken Aerate 08 Bodifying Cream Mousse. You're aiming for a deconstructed coif.

CLOTHES
Here are my favorite three looks from the collection. Hot pink adds visual interest to classic black and white, strapless mini dresses are de rigeur, tulle makes the perfect hem, and killer strappy sandals finish the ensemble. Edgy, fun, and unique!
